Ann’s blinds were in a sorry state. In the second part of our series, we follow Ann as she adds a touch of statement style to her windows.
With restful neutrals in her master bedroom and en suite, Ann wanted to make a real style statement in her spare bedroom. And her son, Cai, was keen to get in on the action too.
First, it was the turn of the guest bedroom. “I was already a dab hand at measuring, so I wasn’t daunted when it came to the two windows in our spare room,” says Ann.
“It’s quite a neutral space, and I thought new Roman blinds offered the perfect opportunity to make a statement. I ordered a few samples, and decided on the gorgeous design of Botanist Plum. It’s so vibrant.
“It’s also great, as the blackout linings mean our guests won’t be waking up with the birds. They’re a massive improvement from the battered, broken Wooden blinds that were there before.”
Ann likes to make a statement in her home in unexpected places. The thin strip of wall on the landing is the perfect place for striking wallpaper – and as it was the last roll in the shop, she picked it up for a steal too!
In Cai’s room, there was a thin green Roman blind at the window, but it just wasn’t cutting it when it came to light control. Plus Cai had something a little more regal in mind – blue!
“Blue is a future-proof choice that will grow with him,” says Ann. “At the moment it matches his space theme, but it could easily fit with something entirely different. And the blackout lining has been a real bonus for a nightmare sleeper like him!
“He’s sleeping so much better now less light is coming into his bedroom. I’d definitely recommend a blackout blind to anyone with children or who struggles to sleep when it’s light outside.”
